Tuvo – Casa Massola – Monte Focone - junction with trail 591

The route starts from the hillside village of Tuvo, a hamlet of Sori characterised by typical colourful Ligurian houses. Follow the marked old mule track as it climbs steeply between dry-stone walls and well-kept olive groves, immediately offering the first sea views. After the first hillside rise, the trail reaches the rural locality of Casa Massola. From here the vegetation becomes sparser, giving way to low Mediterranean scrub and grassy areas. The route continues along the ridge around Monte Focone, where the horizon broadens to offer an extraordinary view stretching from the Portofino Promontory to the port of Genoa. Finally, gentler gradients lead to the junction with trail 591 near Sella di Ne / Monte Cornua, an important historic communication route linking the coast to the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri.

The mule-track and beaten-path surface presents no technical difficulties. Pay attention to orientation in case of fog, which is rare but possible along the watershed ridges, and carry an adequate water supply because there are no springs along the route after departure.
