Blue-Green Trail: Levanto - Deiva Marina

Descrizione

From Levanto towards Bonassola and Framura

The route starts in Levanto and continues towards Bonassola and Framura along the Blue-Green Trail. The official Visit Levanto tourism portal presents the Levanto - Bonassola - Framura section as a medium-difficulty hiking itinerary, 9.5 km long and requiring approximately 3 hours 30 minutes. The complete route described here continues beyond Framura to Deiva Marina.

Salto della Lepre, Carpeneggio and the Bonassola coastline

Between Bonassola and Framura, the official Liguria Trail guide describes the section from the Oratory of Sant'Erasmo towards Salto della Lepre along trail no. 661. The promontory offers a broad view towards Framura and also preserves evidence from the Second World War. The track then reaches Carpeneggio pass, a junction for Bonassola, Framura and Montaretto.

Woodland, basalt cliffs and Red Marble

Continuing towards Framura, the route crosses holm-oak woodland, pine woods, the cultivated plots of Salice and the shaded Montaretto valley. One of the most characteristic passages develops across basalt cliffs immersed in Mediterranean scrub and sparse Aleppo-pine woodland. A short detour leads to Marmi, where a former quarry preserves evidence of the historic extraction of the Red Marble of Bonassola.

Framura and continuation towards Deiva Marina

Framura consists of several historic settlements distributed across the hillside. The coastal route then continues towards Deiva Marina through the local hiking network. Because variants and accessibility may depend on ground conditions and maintenance, check the status of individual sections before departure and follow the signs on site.

Geology and vegetation

The coastline between Bonassola and Framura is characterised by ophiolites, including gabbro, basalt and serpentinite. These conditions favour Mediterranean scrub and garrigue with savory, thyme, helichrysum and Ligurian santolina (Santolina ligustica), an endemic species of this part of Liguria. Tree spurge (Euphorbia dendroides) is also present on rocky outcrops overlooking the sea.
