Scheda sentiero
One of Italy's most iconic hiking routes, connecting five seaside villages suspended between sky and sea.
The trail reaches all five historic villages and offers spectacular views over terraced vineyards and the Ligurian Sea:
Riomaggiore → Manarola: Historically connected by the Via dell'Amore.
Manarola → Corniglia: The standard coastal trail passes near Guvano beach before climbing to Corniglia, the only village not directly overlooking the sea, via the famous Lardarina stairway with 382 steps.
Corniglia → Vernazza: A section immersed in Mediterranean scrub and olive groves, offering one of the world's most famous photographic views when approaching Vernazza from above.
Vernazza → Monterosso al Mare: The final section, demanding because of its initial gradient, crosses the picturesque Acquapendente valley before descending towards Fegina beach in Monterosso.
⚠️ Check trail conditions: Because of the fragility of the Cinque Terre territory, some coastal sections, such as Via dell'Amore or the lower Manarola-Corniglia trail, may be temporarily closed because of landslides or maintenance. In these cases, the higher variants, such as the route via Volastra, remain available.
Access fee (Cinque Terre Card): Access to the blue-trail sections between Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso requires the purchase of the Cinque Terre Trekking Card, available from Park visitor centres or online.
Equipment: Hiking shoes with a lugged sole, such as Vibram or equivalent, are mandatory. Access is not permitted with flip-flops or open shoes.
