Scheda sentiero
A short and evocative connecting trail descending from the hillside village of Salice to join the major coastal hiking route.
The itinerary develops as a direct descending route from the village of Salice, a small and quiet hillside settlement behind Levanto historically linked to olive and vine cultivation. After leaving the last stone houses of the village, the trail follows an old pedestrian track known as a creusa, steadily losing elevation towards the coast.
The first section crosses typical Ligurian terraces supported by dry-stone walls, immediately offering broad panoramic views over Levanto Bay and the Punta Mesco promontory. As the path descends, the rural environment gradually gives way to wilder and typically coastal vegetation: the trail passes among strawberry-tree shrubs, tree heath, broom and maritime pines, accompanied by the scent of aromatic plants and the sound of the sea in the background.
The descent ends upon reaching the junction with REL trail 660, the coastal Sentiero Verdeazzurro. This junction is strategic: hikers can turn left to descend towards the Vallesanta locality and the centre of Levanto or turn right to continue at mid-slope along the rocky promontory towards Bonassola.
The trail is short and well marked, with a mixed surface of beaten earth and stone steps on the steeper sections. It presents no technical difficulties or exposed passages. However, direct sun exposure makes it very hot during the summer months; avoid the middle of the day and carry water. Take care after recent rainfall, as stone steps and dry leaves in the undergrowth may become slippery. Hiking or trail-running shoes with a lugged sole are recommended.
