Mulino Bellolio - Laghello - Marselesso - Foce di Vaggi (REL trail marker)

Descrizione

The itinerary starts near the stream in the locality of Mulino Bellolio, a valley-floor area historically important for hydraulic power and milling activities. The trail leaves the valley floor and immediately begins climbing the hillside, immersed in dense and cool riparian vegetation that soon gives way to thick woodland of chestnut trees and holm oaks.

The first stop on the climb is the wooded locality of Laghello. Beyond it, the route continues gaining elevation at a steady gradient until it reaches the small and characteristic rural settlement of Marselesso, a panoramic hillside hamlet preserving the atmosphere of old Ligurian farming villages. Leaving the last cultivated plots and dry-stone walls behind, the trail re-enters woodland of chestnut trees and maritime pines for the final steep ascent. The route ends at Foce di Vaggi, a ridge pass located at more than 400 metres above sea level. This junction is particularly important for the local trail network because it connects the coastal and mid-slope routes of Framura and Deiva Marina with the paths descending towards the Val di Vara, in the municipality of Carro, and with the variants of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri.

Informazioni pratiche

Partenza Mulino Bellolio (Framura / Deiva Marina, SP)
Arrivo Foce di Vaggi (Deiva Marina / Carro, SP)
Periodo consigliato All year round

The route develops mainly on unpaved trails and old farm roads. It has no technical difficulties, exposed sections or equipped passages. However, humidity in the first section near the valley floor and the accumulation of leaves in the undergrowth can make the ground slippery, especially during winter or after recent rainfall. Hiking shoes with a lugged sole and good grip are recommended.
