Scheda sentiero
A panoramic route along the Bonassola ridge linking the historic village of Montaretto to the main trails towards Framura and Levanto.
The itinerary starts from the village of Montaretto, a hillside hamlet of Bonassola located at approximately 300 metres above sea level and known for its open view over the Ligurian Sea. After leaving the last houses behind, the trail immediately enters transitional Mediterranean vegetation, where maritime pines mix with chestnut trees and holm oaks.
The route largely follows old local paths formerly used for timber harvesting and chestnut-wood management. The climb is steady but never excessively demanding and develops along the slope overlooking the hinterland and the coast of Framura. As elevation increases, vegetation becomes sparser near the old grazing areas, offering broad views over the valley below. The itinerary ends at the intersection with trail 663, which connects Foce di Framura with Monte Rossini and Levanto: a key crossroads for hikers undertaking major mid-slope traverses between the villages of the eastern Riviera.
The trail is short and well defined and presents no exposed sections or technical difficulties. The unpaved surface may include loose stones and exposed roots, especially on the steeper woodland portions. After days of heavy rainfall, some sections may accumulate mud and become slippery. Standard hiking footwear or trail-running shoes with a good sole are recommended.
