Bonassola - Salto della Lepre - Pastorelli - Montaretto

This route develops across the fascinating coastal and hilly territory between Bonassola and Framura, using sections of the local hiking network, including trail 661 and portions of the SVA. The walk starts from the historic centre of Bonassola and climbs past the former Oratory of Sant'Erasmo. After joining the trail, it crosses cool holm-oak woodland and Mediterranean scrub until it reaches the turn-off for the Carpeneggio saddle. From here, a short and level section leads to the extraordinary viewpoint of Salto della Lepre, a rocky promontory dropping steeply into the sea, characterised by old historic bunkers and a 180-degree panorama over the Ligurian Riviera. Beyond Salto della Lepre, the itinerary continues inland alongside small streams, dry-stone walls and clearings. Passing through the locality of Pastorelli, the route gradually gains elevation until it reaches the characteristic hillside village of Montaretto, a hamlet of Bonassola located at approximately 300 metres above sea level and known for its authentic atmosphere and views over the surrounding valleys.

• Wear hiking shoes with a non-slip lugged sole. Rocky ground and woodland sections may be slippery.
• Take particular care at the Salto della Lepre viewpoint: the cliff is exposed and drops steeply into the sea for more than 100 metres. Do not move beyond the safe areas.
• The route crosses small hillside streams: after recent heavy rainfall, the fords may be muddy or slippery.
• Carry an adequate water supply, especially during warmer months.
