Bonassola - Madonnina della Punta

Trail 661V is one of the historic and most popular walks in the municipality of Bonassola. The itinerary starts near the old Oratory of Sant'Erasmo or the Church of Santa Caterina, at the western end of the village beach. From here, a comfortable stone stairway, locally known as a mattonata, climbs past the town cemetery. The route then continues at altitude, alternating level sections with gentle false flats, immersed in typical Mediterranean scrub among maritime pines and native shrubs. The walk ends on the scenic rocky promontory rising approximately 25 metres above the sea, where the characteristic chapel of the Madonnina della Punta stands. Built at the end of the seventeenth century and restored in 1932, the chapel offers a unique viewpoint over Bonassola Bay and nearby Punta del Carlino.

• The surface is paved, but stairs and stone sections may become slippery during rain or in high marine humidity.
• Although this is an easy walk, shoes with good grip are recommended. Avoid flip-flops or footwear with smooth soles.
• Take care in strong wind gusts on the chapel promontory, which is exposed directly above the sea.
